The VS Catalogue
What's this about?
This page is simply about my personal comparison between two actors/directors/composers (and, in some rare cases, films themselves) to discover which is the better of the two (not that they're not both amazing, mind you). This is a highly opinionated page (in fact, this whole blog is highly opinionated), so if you don't agree with the statements made here, please refrain from trolling/flaming the site.
The 'matches' will be played with an even eye (I won't be biased to my favourite of the two), and the champion will be determined by the results of three rounds, which depend entirely on which fight is being carried out.

Actors:Round 1: Career
Which actor/actress has amassed the most films in their arsenal? What about successful films? This is entirely based on the number of successful films they have starred in. Round 2: Consistency We all know that, in order to make it big, an actor/actress has to have had at least one quality work. But has this quality remained consistent throughout their career? This round assesses the quality of their acting as their career has progressed. Round 3: Aesthetics Let's face it; some actors/actresses are finer to look at than others. This is the entirely superficial section of the contest; because, let's face it, while looks may not be important, in Hollywood, they could make or break a person. |
Directors:Round 1: Career
A director always has the ability to change nearly every aspect of their film; and while it's not easy, filmmaking does lead to a long list of accomplishments. Which director has the largest amount of movies under their belt? And how many of those were successful? Round 2: Innovation When you watch some director's movies, it feels like you're watching the same old thing over and over again. But some directors are innovators, making each of their films something you'll never forget. Which director has the greatest diversity in their films? Round 3: Originality Let's face it; some new movies are already old news. It's basically the same story, repeated throughout a series, or placed sporadically over a period of years. Which director has dished out the most original flicks? |
Composers:Round 1: Career
Some composers can procure a long list of movies and an even longer list of musical notes--so surely their career is of importance when it comes to comparing the two? Which have composed for the most movies? And were their soundtracks hailed? Round 2: Diversity Some soundtracks repeat... and repeat... and repeat. It's the same theme in every song. And then, you watch another movie that they worked on--and there it is again! That wretched theme! Which director has kept not only their soundtracks diverse, but the soundtrack's respective songs? Round 3: Emotionality Soundtracks are placed in films to give scenes ambience; just one slight change to the song could make a scene either happy or horribly depressing. Which composer has composed the most emotional (or emotionally lacking, depending on circumstance) songs? |
Films:Round 1: Stars
The first thing you know about a film is who's in it. How star-studded are these films; and is the director a big name in Hollywood? Round 2: Story A film is only as good as its storyline. How well-written are these scripts? Is the plot sound? How interesting is the film in its entirety? Round 3: Execution Films are fickle; just one faulty actor or one ridiculous plot point can leave a film in tatters. How well-executed were these films? |
The first contest will be posted shortly!
